Adrienne Blouse
If you are interested in learning to work with knit fabrics on a regular sewing machine (no serger or special machines needed!) – here is your chance! In this 2 session class learn to make the Adrienne Blouse by Friday Pattern Co, a knit top with billowy sleeves that are gathered up at the shoulders and hems with elastic. This is a great class for students early in their garment sewing experience who have little to no experience with knits and want to give it a try! Sized XS-4X.
Intermediate and above or adventurous beginner. This can be your first time working with knits, however it should not be your first time using a pattern.
Adrienne Blouse Pattern, by Friday Pattern Co. – Available at Firecracker Fabrics
Recommended fabrics:
Knit fabric with at least 25% stretch. Choose a light, drapey knit for a more flowy top or a knit with more structure for a modern look.
YARDAGE REQUIREMENTS: Make sure you prewash/predry your fabric before class in case of shrinkage. Knits often shrink and you will want to preshrink before making the top.
SIZES XS – M:
45” wide fabric // 1 3/4 yards
54 – 60” wide fabric // 1 3/8 yards
SIZES L – XXL:
45” wide fabric // 2 1/4 yards
54” wide fabric // 1 7/8 yards
60” wide fabric // 1 3/8 yards
SIZES 1X – 4X
45” wide fabric // 2 5/8 yards
54” wide fabric // 2 1/2 yards
60” wide fabric // 2 yards
NOTIONS:
1 1/2 yards of ½” wide elastic. Use bra strap elastic if possible. It is stronger and more durable than standard elastic. If you can’t get your hands on bra strap elastic, standard elastic will suffice!
Matching thread – all purpose
*If you would like to use your own machine for class so that you can see what stretch stitches are available on your machine for sewing, plan to bring your machine. You will want to make sure you have a ballpoint or stretch needle depending on your fabric choice.
*If you would like to use a rotary cutter and have one at home please plan to bring with you.
