Draping
Draping in fashion is the process of positioning and pinning the fabric on a dress form and can be used to create the basic pattern or to design organically by playing with the fabric on the form. This is a draping theory class, not a personal dressmaking class. You will use studio forms which are not necessarily your size to learn draping theory and techniques. In this class you will learn about bias, how to use pleats, gathers, and cowls in dress design, and hand sewing techniques. You will also have an opportunity to sketch your own design to be draped in class and how to drape muslin on a form for use as the foundation block.
