Unconventional Fashion Camp – Full
Have you thought about what it might be like to use unconventional materials to design and make clothing? Then this is the camp for you! Inspired by the favorite unconventional challenge of Project Runway, this camp will teach students to think outside the box when it comes to design. This is sure to be a fun camp!
For students entering grades 4-12 update with prior experience.
Recommended Experience Level: Intermediate to Advanced Level Experience. Students must have taken the Intro to Sewing camp or series of classes. For students entering grades 4-12.
Some supplies are provided.
For the unconventional fashion camp this year some of the supplies will be provided, such as black trash bags which become the main fabric for the looks. Please start to collect supplies for your unconventional look. You may choose to use a ton of zippers, or use different recyclable items, cardboard, plastic and paper food packaging and wrappers, candy wrappers, buttons, other sorts of plastic and bags, ribbons and bows, magazine pages etc. Just about anything you can imagine. Students will stitch and glue to create their wearable art fashions! Start to put together a box of items that you want to explore using that you can bring to camp!
Collect stuff from around the house, things that would normally end up in the trash, or at your local hardware store or plan to stop by Pittsburgh center for creative reuse – they currently have an online shop so you can shop while they are currently closed, and hopefully with a bit more time they will reopen.
