Home Decor – Pillows


This is the beginner level home décor class. Learn professional pillow making techniques from an experienced upholsterer… make your own pillow insert, and make a pillow cover with welts and fabric covered buttons. Basic sewing machine experience required.

Recommended Experience Level: Beginner. Should have basic sewing machine experience including knowing how to thread and operate the sewing machine.
Supply List:
Enough fabric to make your pillow – suggested to use a medium or heavier home decor weight fabric (about 3/4 yard should be enough if the fabric is wide) – you will be able to choose your pillow size – up to a 20″ square pillow (can be square or rectangular). Firecracker does carry an assortment of fabrics good for this project – including cotton quilting weight fabrics which are fine to use as well. For traditional upholstery fabric check Loom in the Strip or T’s Upholstery in Lawrenceville or Joanns.
about 1/2 yard of extra fabric for cording (in contrast or same fabric)
Regular all-purpose polyester machine sewing thread.
