Dresden Plate Block
This workshop-style class will focus on the traditional Dresden Plate patchwork block, made popular in the 1930s. We’ll play with various design options, learn to piece and baste the unique petal variations, and work on delicate appliqué both by machine and by hand. Students will learn various methods and options to make this block, and can mix-and-match their own preferences.
Class will result in one completed quilt block, minimum, size to be chosen by the student! You can make miniature blocks or large blocks, and make as many as you wish or have time for. Students will have help planning for a bigger project if desired.
Students should be very comfortable with accurate piecing and cutting –Â accurately piecing a circle is challenging! We may have to do some trial and error and fine-tuning with seam allowances to get good results.
