Intro To Sewing For Adults

Learn all the basics of sewing, how to thread and operate the machine, basic technique, then make a slipcover case for a pillow! This is the first class for all newbies! This is an in-person 1 day class for 3 hours.

Pre-Requisites

Recommended Experience Level: Newbie.  No experience necessary!

Supplies

Our beautiful and local fabric shop located right inside Cut & Sew Studio is currently closed for in person shopping but they are definitely open for ONLINE SHOPPING!  Please visit their website firecrackerfabrics.com.  Once you place your order they will let you know that your order is ready for pickup.  Since you are enrolled in a class you are welcome to leave the order in the shop and it will be waiting for you when you arrive for class, no need to make an extra trip to the shop!

SUPPLY LIST:

THERE ARE 2 PILLOW STYLES, YOU WILL CHOOSE ONE PILLOW STYLE AND PURCHASE THE SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THAT DESIGN. 

A note on fabrics: must be easy fabric for beginner sewer – non-stretch, med-weight woven fabric. No thick fleece, faux-fur, velvet, etc. Cotton quilting fabric, canvas or home decor fabric is best. Use contrast or coordinating fabrics, whatever you like together!

FOR EITHER STYLE: 
• 1 spool of all-purpose thread to match
• one 18″ pillow form.

FOR PILLOW STYLE A – 3 PARALLEL STRIPES
• 5/8 yard Fabric A (used for largest stripe and pillow back)
• 1/8 yard Fabric B (used for middle stripe)
• 1/4 yard of Fabric C (used for end stripe)

PILLOW STYLE B – 3 PERPENDICULAR RECTANGLES
• 5/8 yard Fabric A (used for smallest rectangle and pillow back)
• 1/2 yard Fabric B (used for largest rectangle)
• 1/4 yard of Fabric C (used for last rectangle)

Note:  You do not need to bring a sewing machine or sewing tools to class – just the supplies listed above!  If you have your own machine at home you want to use in class please check in advance.
