For the first class you will want to bring your pile of tshirts. If you have more than needed the instructor can help you with narrowing down based on your dimensions. You can make the quilt top any size, although keep in mind larger quilts are more time consuming and also more difficult to handle on the machine, so if you are newer to sewing you may want to consider keeping the size a bit smaller. There will be some limitations in size based on what you can maneuver through the machine. This can be discussed with the instructor in the first class.
During the first class, the instructor will help you to determine how much you need of the following:
Batting amount – prepackaged or by the yard.
Backing fabric, quilting cotton suggested – width, and yardage needed. Suggested to use wide-back or Possibly to piece together to create larger backing
Interfacing Needed, we suggest SF101 or other light weight woven interfacing, but other options can be discussed
Thread – All purpose polyester suggested
Fabric for binding – quilting cotton suggested
Please note that this class will most likely require some outside of class homework. Depending on the size of the quilt, you may have more or less. You must have a machine at home that you are comfortable using to complete any necessary homework between weeks. A walking foot will be necessary for your machine.
