The Basic Quilt class with @southatlanticstitch is on the schedule for the Fall starting Sept 11th! This is the perfect beginner quilting class (although it is not a class for new sewists so please read the prerequisites before signup!). In this 6 session class learn all the steps to make a basic lap quilt from start to finish in this series – from cutting, to piecing, to quilting and binding. The Lone Star class starts in a week with @southatlanticstitch and we have 2 spots left! In this three-part class, you will make a Lone Star quilt block, one of the most admired traditional designs in quilting! This block features many advanced patchwork techniques, including strip piecing, angled cutting and piecing, and sewing y-seams. It is also a wonderful exercise for playing with fabric and color palettes and experimenting with color layout. Another incredibly amazing dress turned out in just 2 of the classes this week! This young sewist made this as her second project after completing a skirt and then quickly stitched up a little belt to accessorize it! This young sewist had a vision for what she wanted to make during the Choose Your Own Adventure in Sewing Camp this week and did such an amazing job accomplishing it! I was a little worried when I heard we would be working with faux leather, but what a great job she did! This is the @violettefieldthreads #pixiedress which was modified using historical pleating methods under guidance from @elleofhousekaplan - since the original gathers would not have been a great fit for this fabric. Grown up summer camp- the Summer Quilt Along with @southatlanticstitch starts June 13th and runs for 6 weeks with a break mid-way at 4th of July week. This is equal parts social sewing circle and guided class time! Sew at your own pace with friends, or use this project and instruction to fine-tune your piecing skills … or both!
Week-by-week, we’ll sew this quilt top together, and use the opportunity to learn about accurately piecing and designing medallion quilts. This is not a beginner quilting class.
