Animal Pillow

This animal pillow pattern is a great intermediate level project for the young sewist and will provide an opportunity to try out using fluffy/soft fabrics like fleece, create some intricate shapes and even insert a zipper!  Choose from a pig, lamb, rabbit or hedgehog.  If your child wants to get into making stuffies or has already made a simple stuffy this is a great choice for a pattern.

Level : Intermediate
Time Needed: 3-4 sessions

Supplies Needed: Varies by project depending on which animal you choose

You will need to purchase simplicity Pattern 9732 HERE or at Joann Fabrics

Choose which animal you want to make and then you will need to purchase the fabric as specified on the back of the pattern envelope, invisible zipper, all-purpose thread, safety eyes or buttons for eyes, safety nose if required for your chosen animal.  A standard bed pillow will fit inside about 20″ x 28″ .  You may also need embroidery floss or yarn depending on animal chosen.

**Please note you will need a small bag of poly-fill/stuffing for the head and feet!  It is not mentioned on the pattern envelope.

Please also stay away from faux fur as it’s very challenging for kids to sew and cut.  Stick with fleece or sweatshirt fleece, or minky (more challenging than fleece) or a very low pile fur.
