Blake Dress

Blake Dress from Violet Field Threads is faux wrap dress pattern with a fun ruffle along the hemline.  The pattern does include other options (for top, and dress without ruffle) but the version we make is shown in the picture here and that is what the supply list below is for.  Student does not need prior experience with using a pattern to make this dress, but know that it is a longer project and so the student should be ready for the time required to complete the dress (it is a not a quick 2 week project!)

Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Number of Classes : 7-8 sessions

The “Blake dress” comes in 2 size options.  Please provide studio with size preference.

You can view the size chart here. Please speak with Catherine regarding size.

For 7-10 girls sizing Fabric Requirements:
2.5 yards fabric for main parts of dress
1.25 yards of fabric for Ruffle

For tween sizes 10-16 Fabric Requirements:

3 yards fabric for main parts of dress
1.5 yards of fabric for Ruffle

*All students will need 1 large or 2 small spools of all-purpose thread for the dress.

*Fabric Recommendations – quilting cottons, cotton sateen or other light-mid weight woven fabrics. Only more advanced students should choose something slippery for this dress. No knit(stretch) fabrics. It is a full skirt that layers in the front so nothing too thick, stiff or bulky.

**Elastic is optional and in the summer camp we did not use it.  It can be provided if student chooses.  Optionally we can also make a tie/belt with a bit of extra fabric as well.
