Be sure to stop by Firecracker Fabrics online or in-person – our beautiful and local fabric partner shop, located right at the opposite corner of Cut & Sew Studio and offering all the fabrics, notions, patterns and supplies needed for class! You are of course permitted to shop anywhere you like for fabric even at home in your parents fabric stash if you are permitted! Shopping Recommendations on our FAQ page.
Please note that you will not be able to shop for supplies the day of camp before camp (or during camp). Please make sure to plan in advance. Firecracker Fabrics is closed on Mondays.
**If you are a parent who feels a bit overwhelmed about getting supplies for camp or wants an easy option for ordering online, Firecracker Fabrics now offers pre-cut kits for the Intro camp! Find them on their website HERE. Just order the kit and your child will be all set, nothing else is needed. If you buy a premade Intro kit, you will pick up your kit from your instructor at the first day of camp. Do not pick up at Firecracker fabrics!
PICKING UP SUPPLIES FROM YOUR INSTRUCTOR ONLY APPLIES TO THE INTRO PREMADE KITS SPECIFICALLY. ALL OTHER ONLINE ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP FROM FIRECRACKER FABRICS DURING THEIR REGULAR HOURS. Again, they are closed Mondays.
For all online orders Be sure to order AT LEAST 3 days in advance of the camp and note the store’s hours online. Please check Firecracker’s website or social media for any store hour updates!
We will make 3 projects. It is best to have all supplies sent together for the first day of camp. All supplies will remain at the studio for the week, however as projects are completed, projects will be sent home.
Fabric Suggested for all projects – there are other fabrics that you could use, but most students choose from these options:
Quilting Cottons Printed or Quilting Cottons Solid
See supply list below if you are NOT ordering a premade kit from Firecracker Fabrics:
*we will need thread for each project, but typically 2 spools of sewing machine thread is enough for the week if you want to pick 2 colors you like to use for all projects. Please be sure they are normal size spools of thread and not tiny hand sewing kit spools.
PROJECT #1 – PATCH WORK PILLOW
- 1/2 yard Fabric A (must be non-stretch, med-weight woven fabric. No thick fleece,faux-fur, velvet etc. Must be easy fabric for beginner sewer, cotton quilting fabric is best choice (light-mid weight canvas ok too).
- 1/2 yard Fabric B (same notes as above-use contrast or coordinating fabric, whatever you like together!).
- 1 spool of all-purpose thread to match
- one 16″ pillow form.
PROJECT #2 – DRAWSTRING BACKPACK
- 3/4 yard of cotton quilting fabric or similar fabric – non-stretch
- Cord — 4 yards- something to use for drawstring cord (not too thick, about ¼” diameter). (for tiny/short students you will need 3.5 yards only)

PROJECT #3 – PJ Pants or SHORTS
- 2.25 yards of woven fabric (or 1 yard ONLY for PJ shorts) Making shorts will be a bit less expensive since you will need less fabric.

If your child moves more quickly through their projects, we have scrap buster projects and studio supplies that can be used to make a variety of projects. Teacher will discuss this with the student as needed. If your child has a project in mind that they would really like to make that involves purchasing additional supplies just let us know. Otherwise, we try to use what we have on hand!
Some ideas are scrunchies, zipper pouches, doll clothes, skirts and totes!
Any questions about the supplies just reach out to me :)
Water bottle and nut free snack each day! We do have a water bottle refill station.
